Documented date context
December 31 is used for World Peace Meditation Day and the International Hour for Peace. The Hour for Peace describes a coordinated peace meditation and prayer gathering launched in 1986 by John Randolph Price and the Quartus Foundation, traditionally at noon Greenwich Mean Time. This is a voluntary community observance, not a United Nations-designated holiday; the countdown marks its calendar date rather than the precise hour of a local gathering.
