How the calculations and event dates work.
Date calculations use the selected calendar date and update live where seconds matter. Named observance dates come from a separately reviewed source-backed dataset.
Exact dates
Calendar-day answers compare local calendar dates without counting the starting date twice. The live hours, minutes and seconds measure elapsed time from midnight at the start of the chosen date in the visitor’s device timezone. Daylight-saving changes can make elapsed full 24-hour days differ from calendar-day counts.
Date arithmetic
“Days from” adds calendar days and “days before” subtracts them. Calendar-day calculations include weekends and holidays. Days-between combinations are calculated directly from the two dates selected.
Clock times
A clock time normally repeats each day, but some local times are skipped or repeated during daylight-saving changes. “Ago” and “until” use the nearest real occurrences, including both repeated instances. The live display follows the visitor’s device timezone.
Recurring observances
Only fixed annual dates are exposed in this release. Rule-based, edition-specific and unresolved future dates are not guessed. Source links are shown on event pages when available.
Coverage
The main browseable date archive covers 1950–2027. Clock-time browsing is organized in five-minute steps, while exact-minute and wider date calculations can still be opened directly through the calculators. Fixed-date countdowns skip invalid calendar dates such as February 29 in non-leap years. The headline uses calendar dates; the live timer uses the visitor’s device clock.
